Ayo is from Chicago, where a setback early in high school became the catalyst for developing the resilience, curiosity, and growth mindset that now define his leadership. Fascinated by the power of the human brain, he founded his school’s Brain Optimization Club, leading a team of students that translates neuroscience research into practical lessons on stress, memory, focus, and mental wellness for hundreds of their peers. His passion for improving mental health also extends beyond his school through his work on the Chicago Mayor’s Youth Commission, where he helps advocate for policies that better support young people across the city. Through his college education, he envisions studying neuroscience as he pursues his dream of becoming a neurologist, researcher, and public educator. He believes scientific knowledge has the greatest impact when it is accessible to everyone, and he is committed to helping people better understand their minds and improve their lives.
