Ayusha is from Buffalo Grove, Illinois, where frequent moves and the loss of her father to blood cancer shaped her into a compassionate leader with a deep commitment to improving the lives of others. An artist since childhood who began commissioning portraits as a teenager, she discovered that both art and science can tell powerful stories and bring healing in different ways. Inspired by her father’s resilience, Ayusha will attend the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she plans to pursue a career as a diagnostic radiologist dedicated to advancing cancer diagnosis and treatment. Throughout high school, she led her school’s Super Joey chapter supporting pediatric cancer initiatives, volunteered with the Red Cross, the hospital’s radiology center, and earned state recognition through HOSA for creating community health awareness campaigns. She has also partnered with students around the world to develop innovative solutions to reduce food waste, reflecting her passion for combining research, technology, and service to solve meaningful problems. Driven by empathy, creativity, and scientific curiosity, Ayusha hopes to honor her father’s legacy by helping patients face cancer with greater hope and better outcomes.
