Bridge the gap between low income students and opportunities.
Destyni is from Charlotte, North Carolina, and is passionate about leadership, education, and creating pathways of support for first-generation and low-income students. As one of six siblings, she grew up learning how to balance responsibility and care for others, becoming someone her family could rely on while also forging her own identity in a busy household. Her commitment to growth and opportunity has been shaped by her experiences as a working student-athlete, where she learned how to manage academics, sports, and multiple jobs while continuing to push herself forward. Through her involvement in the Carolina Youth Coalition, Destyni discovered the power of mentorship and guidance, gaining confidence and purpose while also learning how to pay that support forward to others. In her leadership roles in organizations such as the Black Student Union and Student Government, she has helped create spaces where students feel seen, heard, and empowered to lead. Destyni hopes her legacy will be one of reliability, kindness, and compassion—building opportunities for others and ensuring that every student has the support they need to bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to go.
