I aim to empower Spanish-speaking individuals born in the United States to proudly embrace their identity by confidently representing and bridging their cultural heritage.
Jennifer is from Robbinsville, North Carolina, and is deeply committed to celebrating her rural, Spanish-speaking community while helping others feel proud of their identity and culture. As a bilingual and bicultural student, she has experienced both pride and challenge in navigating spaces where her language and background have sometimes been misunderstood or dismissed. These experiences inspired her to become a strong advocate for representation, especially for Spanish-speaking individuals who are often told they are “not enough” of either culture. Jennifer serves as president of her school’s Spanish Club, where she helps educate peers about Hispanic traditions and creates space for cultural appreciation and understanding. She is also actively involved in the Crusaders Club, where she supports service projects and helps organize community-focused events that bring students together in meaningful ways. Outside of school, Jennifer balances a demanding work schedule while also helping her family by translating, caring for siblings, and contributing financially at home. Despite these responsibilities, she remains committed to her education and creative outlets, including art and hands-on projects that allow her to express herself. Jennifer hopes her legacy will be one of cultural pride, resilience, and authenticity—empowering communities to embrace who they are without fear, shame, or limitation.
