Designing equitable technology and policy systems for underserved communities.
Jerel is a leader, mentor, and advocate from Clayton County, Georgia, who believes that opportunity should never depend on a person’s background. Inspired by the unwavering support of his grandfather, he has dedicated himself to expanding access to education and leadership opportunities for students in his community. Jerel founded the county’s first debate and public speaking organization focused on serving minority students, created a countywide chess program, and has served on both the Library Ambassador Board and the Clayton County Youth Commission. A two-time Georgia Academic Decathlon state champion and member of the fourth-place national team, through sport and play, he has coached teammates and younger students to achieve success of their own. Jerel will attend Dartmouth College, where he plans to continue preparing for a career in public service and global diplomacy while advocating for educational equity. By investing in young people and challenging systems that limit opportunity, Jerel is helping build a future where every student has the chance to find their voice and reach their potential.
