Sadiyo is from West Valley City, Utah, where growing up translating for her parents and helping care for her mother after an ischemic stroke instilled in her a deep sense of compassion and responsibility. Those experiences inspired her to pursue nursing at the University of Utah, where she hopes to make healthcare more accessible and culturally responsive for families who often feel unheard or misunderstood. Throughout high school, Sadiyo helped found Highland High School’s first Black Student Union, creating a lasting community where students could feel seen, celebrated, and supported while leading service projects and Black History Month events. Her leadership has always centered on opening doors for others and making sure everyone has a place to belong. Whether advocating for patients or building stronger communities, Sadiyo is driven by the belief that empathy, representation, and service can change lives for generations to come.
